Filters Interior air conditioners are designed to catch dust, but if the filters are clogged with debris, your air conditioner will have to work harder and will be less effective at cooling your home.
The dust filters should be cleaned every few weeks, but aim to do it at least twice a year. It usually just requires opening the plastic cover, removing the filter (or filters), and shaking them vigorously outside.
If they are actually filthy, you could wash them in hot, soapy water. However, make sure they are thoroughly dry before reinstalling them in the appliance. To find out how frequently filters need to be updated, consult your owner’s handbook.
