The yearly Amaranth Yatra will start on June 30 this year with strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols. The date was pronounced by the office of the Lt. Governor of Jammu & Kashmir.
This year the yatra to the Himalayan cave shrine located at an elevation of 3,880 meters in south Kashmir will be open for 43 days. According to tradition, the Amarnath Yatra will end on the day of Raksha Bandhan.
